Because of the wonderful “Healthy Snacking” post from yesterday I thought I would do some random facts on nutrition, enjoy.

-Most likely due to poor nutrition as children, many Greeks and Romans were shorter than people today. Men from Pompeii, for example, averaged 5 ft. 5-½ in. and women averaged 5 ft. 2 in.

-Nutrients are divided into two major groups: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients include protein, carbohydrates, water, and fats. Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals.

-Salt is the most common seasoning mentioned in the Bible. Salt was a vital mineral that was not only essential to life, but also preserved other foods critical for survival. Salt was so important that it was also often used as a form of currency or as a unit of exchange.

I once worked with a bunch of design geeks, and they loved Chuck Norris “Facts”, here you go boys!

-When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

-There is no ‘ctrl’ button on Chuck Norris’s computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.

-Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

-Chuck Norris can sneeze with his eyes open.

-When Chuck Norris does a push up, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.

-Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise.

-Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird

International No Diet Day

That is right, May 6th is International No Diet Day, so go ahead, splurge, get that ice cream and and buy a hot dog because May 6th is also known for Babe Ruth’s first home run in the majors.

May 6th is also known for being No Homework Day, May is known as National Family Month, Barbecue Month, National Vinegar Month, Personal History Month, along with many others. So take some time, do some family and personal history, take a day off from work, use vinegar in a barbecue recipe and take in a baseball game.
