Milk Frustration

I have been really watching what I eat, and reducing my food intake the last three weeks. I haven’t lost any weight but now my milk supply has plummeted. Grrr. No more “dieting”. *Sigh* I guess I need to pick up some tapioca at the store today.



  1. I knew that sometimes dieting can reduce your milk supply, but I didn’t know that tapioca can help keep it up. That’s good to know.

    You should try weight watchers online. They have a section where you enter in data about yourself, one being nursing mother and it adjusts the points value for you so you still get to eat well enough to continue your milk supply while dropping the weight. I did it after having Austyn and lost over 20 lbs during her first year, but I also waited until she was 3 months old before I started any diet plan…It’s a good system, tons of recipes, and you can always check and see what foods ‘cost’ in the points department. I found that it was sometimes beneficial to give up a little of one thing to increase the other, which is how I kept my milk up. Good luck!

    • I lost 20 pounds by the time he was 6 weeks old, then 5, but I still have 15 more to go. I thought with him being almost 9 months old my milk supply wouldn’t be so sensitive. Weight Watchers is a good idea, however I can’t spend the extra money right now. *Sigh* Just a few more months and he will be weened and then I know I can drop it… I WILL drop it! 🙂
